Tina and Matt Parinella are the wife-and-husband creators of Carl the Cat Loves Christmas. Tina wrote the story and sketched the pages, and Matt brought her characters and setting to life through his illustration designs.  Both were born in Pennsylvania and are longtime residents of Greenville, South Carolina. They have two adult children.

This book was inspired by cherished memories of their children and pets during Christmastime - especially the antics of their beloved cat, who delighted in getting into mischief with the holiday decorations.  In the 1990's, Tina's mother began a family tradition: every year after Thanksgiving dinner, Grandma would give the children a new Christmas storybook to build excitement for the season ahead.
